Abell 2744, nicknamed Pandora’s Cluster, was the first of six targets within the Frontier Fields programme, which together have produced the deepest images of gravitational lensing ever made. The cluster is thought to have a very violent history, having formed from a cosmic pile-up of multiple galaxy clusters.
The rugged topography - the street is six meters above the ground - and the idea of the owners to work from home were some of the constraints of this project. The “house” is next to the woods and a stream. The office occupies the upper structure, consisting of two slabs structured by a large beam on the slab of the roof, supported on two pillars and is the only volume seen from the street. The living areas are organized around a courtyard below the street level.
